World Plumbing Day 2015
World Plumbing Day is an international event, initiated by the World Plumbing Council (WPC), held on the 11th of March every year to recognise the important role plumbing plays in society, for public health and amenity.
The WPC launched World Plumbing Day in 2010 on the premise that people all around the globe would take a moment to reflect on how plumbing preserves our way of life and how it can be used to build sustainable disease-free futures for millions in the developing world.
Fifteen years later, governments, policy makers and community organisations continue to promote World Plumbing Day across Europe, Australia, China, India, the USA, and beyond.
In London, the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) are holding a conference entitled Plumbing for Health: World Plumbing Day 2015 to mark the occasion.
The event is especially for public and environmental health officers, designers, hospital engineers, plumbers and water officials, providing a unique insight in to the cross disciplinary work being undertaken to ensure the safety of our water systems.
A number of esteemed speakers will be holding talks and discussions on the day, including Lord Hunt of Kings Heath, President of RSPH, as well as Medical Microbiologist Professor Rodney Cartwright, Drinking Water Inspectorate Laura Moss and Kevin Wellman, Executive Board Member of the World Plumbing Council.
Topics on the agenda include water borne illnesses, scalding prevention, building design for plumbing and health, water safety plans and advances in plumbing technology.
The event will be held at the iconic 28 Portland Place, a charming historic building dating back to 1775, on Wednesday the 11th of March 2015.
Registration starts at 9.30am with the conference running from 10am to 4.30pm. Tickets start at £135 and can be purchased here.
